Google may have a shot at outshining the iPad if it can come up with a design for a robust tablet that’s capable of doing a lot more than providing entertainment, suggested 451 Group analyst Chris Hazelton. “Kindle was 1.0,” he observed. “iPad is 2.0, while Google needs to be 3.0, where the tablet is a computing device, not a media device.”

Google’s Nexus One, which is on sale in select countries of the world, might be launched in India too in the near future. Good news? Well certainly! But there is a catch.
We are hearing increasing reports of a “scaled down” Nexus One being considered for developing markets and that this is the version of Google Nexus One that will eventually land here officially. That said, you could always import one should you prefer the “original” Nexus One.

Sprint is reading an ultimate Android smartphone that it hopes would draw attention to its network, a leak late Sunday hints. Nicknamed “Supersonic,” the HTC device is expected to be similar in spirit to the HD2, including its very large 4.3-inch touchscreen. The Engadget contact notes it would run Android 2.1, however, and would be one of Sprint’s first phones with WiMAX, beating other US carriers to having the first 4G phone in the country.

Google may have been able to blur country boundaries with their (limited) international shipping for the Nexus One, but they haven’t been able to quash import duties and taxes. That’s meant an extra sting in the unlocked tail of the Nexus One for those impatient enough to order it straight away, and a fair few folk preferring to wait until Google start offering the Android 2.1 smartphone locally.
